Supporting Aging Loved Ones

Dementia affects around 50 million people worldwide, with nearly 10 million new cases developing each year. Witnessing a loved one’s health and mental capacity deteriorate can be an extremely difficult and heart-wrenching journey for the family members affected, but there are steps that can be taken to make caregiving more manageable.

In partnership with Gundersen Medical Foundation, Verve welcomed nearly 150 La Crosse community members to the Healthy Aging Conference on Friday, November 22. The conference, which provides education and awareness about dementia, included sessions for exploring treatment options, managing finances and taking advantage of local dementia-supporting initiatives.

In addition to being served breakfast and lunch, attendees received a meaningful giveaway and were given the opportunity to have their questions answered by some of the community’s top medical, financial and legal experts.

For Verve team members, it was particularly important to participate in this event and provide the insight and resources so many families desperately need to care for their loved ones. We are glad to be able to offer our time and expertise to help ease the burden so many face as a result of this life-altering disease.
