Fishing and philanthropy: Verve and Walleye Weekend seeking to reel in grand stories

By February 23, 2016 No Comments

Since 1977, Walleye Weekend has been one of Fond du Lac’s largest fundraising events for non-profit and not-for-profit organizations that serve the Fond du Lac community.  Since 1977, Walleye Weekend has been one of Fond du Lac’s largest fundraising events for non-profit and not-for-profit organizations that serve the Fond du Lac community.  Thanks to the 3rd annual Verve “Grand GiveBack” story contest, these charitable organizations can share their prize-winning stories for a chance to earn $1,000 cash and a promotional video worth $10,000 for their cause.

By showcasing their own “tall tales” —far from fishing folklore—these charities and non-profits get the word out about the good they do for the Fond du Lac community and keep the public focused on the heart and soul of this fishy-but-fun, philanthropic event. The top 10 stories are selected to air on Fond du Lac’s hit radio station, KFIZ, so the whole community can hear their stories, too. While the top story-teller wins $1,000 courtesy of Verve, a Credit Union, the nine runners up each receive a $100 from the Fond du Lac Area Foundation as well.

If your organization has a not-so-fishy tale to tell of giving back, cast a line our way no later than March 21 to info@fdlfest.com.
