Hilbert fans of all ages took to the court during halftime at the January 22 high school boys’ basketball game for a fundraising frenzy. Verve’s Bucks for Baskets Free Throw Frenzy gave Hilbert High School supporters a chance to raise money for their school and have fun doing it! For a $1 donation, fans took two free throws—for $2, they took five. And, to crank up the excitement, Verve added $2 to the pot for every toss that went in. So, what were the numbers when the buzzer rang?
- Hilbert scored $76 from the community
- Fans took 170 free throws
- 62 went in, earning Hilbert $124 more from Verve
$76 + $124 = $200!
That’s right, Hilbert High School walked away with $200 thanks to some die-hard Wolves fans and their 36% free throw rate (not too shabby, but you can do better next season!).
A slam-dunk cause for the community.
We’re always looking for exciting ways to engage the community, and fundraising events like the Free Throw Frenzy help us all work together like a tightly knit team. With “community” being one of our 7 Cooperative Principles—which are like the playbook for running a credit union—Verve was proud to step up to the line to help Hilbert High School score a game-changing donation.
