Back to School Fair Supply Drive

By August 4, 2014 No Comments

Many local families simply can’t afford the basics their children need when it comes time to go back to school each year. Fifteen years ago, the Winnebago Back to School Fair helped 50 children (from 4K to grade 12) with back to school basics. On Thursday, August 14, the annual Community Back to School Fair of Winnebago County plans to help 1200 children!

How amazing is that? Each child will leave the fair with a new backpack, school supplies, a new set of clothing, a hygiene kit, a haircut, a dental cleaning, and more!

The Oshkosh Area United Way has a huge part in the success of this event, along with other local organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, American Red Cross, the Christine Anne Domestic Abuse Services and local Rotary clubs to name a few. CitizensFirst decided to support this awesome effort, too!

On July 22, we held a Casual for a Cause day so our team members could donate money or hygiene items in return for dressing casual. We’re proud to live the 7th Cooperative Principle (Concern for Community) and we have a fabulous donation to make to the Back to School Fair. We wish all of these kids a fantastic school year!
