Soccer Saturday

It’s 6:00 in the morning on a Saturday and you’re up already, too excited to sleep because there’s a big day ahead of you. Soon, you smell bacon and eggs. It’s almost 7:00 and you need to get moving. At 7:30, you make sure you have your cleats, jersey, shin guards and other necessary gear packed and ready to go. Your parents holler for you. Time to go. You arrive and the soccer fields are freshly mowed, ready to be torn up. It’s game time!

Finally! SOCCER SATURDAY arrived on Saturday, July 19 at Winnebago County Park in Oshkosh. This event was presented by the Oshkosh Youth Soccer Club (OYSC) whose philosophy is to “strive to put an emphasis on learning and having fun versus winning or losing.” About 100 teams participated, with the older kids playing tournament-style and the younger kids playing two guaranteed games. It was a day of family fun!

This was our first year as a Soccer Saturday sponsor and we had a blast! We brought our cuBe (credit union Big experience), a wildly-colored truck with a see-through box on the back. During their down time, kids climbed into the cuBe to play FIFA World Cup with the future soccer stars of Wisconsin. Parents and kids also tried their hand at the bean bag and washer toss games we provided. It was all free and people loved it!

Fun pictures from the event are posted here. We love to be part of community events and plan to see all of you again next year!
