Giving back to the community is very important to CitizensFirst employees, so every month our events committee selects a local organization to benefit from our casual day. Our employees can choose to participate and pay to dress casually with a small donation to the chosen organization. What a great way to get to dress in your favorite casual gear and make a difference in our community.

This month’s Casual for a Cause money will be going to Relay for Life. To increase our total donation to this great cause, Casual for a Cause day will be turned into Casual for a Cause WEEK! With a $20 donation, employees will be able to dress casually from June 16- 20. The money collected at each branch will stay with that local Relay for Life movement (Fond du Lac, Brillion, Neenah and Oshkosh).

Relay for Life is an overnight community fundraising walk to benefit the American Cancer Society. In May 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Washington, raising $27,000 to help fight the nation’s biggest health concern – cancer. How cool is that? Since those first steps were taken, Relay for Life has grown nationwide and has raised nearly $5 billion to fight cancer. Now, teams of people camp out around a track and take turns walking laps. Here are the local events that our donations will help fund. Put a team together and join in the efforts to fight cancer.

  • Relay for Life of Winnebago County – Friday, June 13th, 2014 at Oshkosh West High School
  • Relay for Life of Neenah/Menasha – Friday, June 13th, 2014 at Calder Stadium in Menasha
  • Relay for Life of Brillion – Friday, June 20th, 2014 at Brillion Elementary-Middle School
  • Relay for Life of Fond du Lac – Friday, August 1st, 2014 at Fond du Lac High School

So, the next time you see one of us dressed casually, ask us what organization we’re supporting and we’d be happy to tell you all about it!
