Stronger Together

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Two is better than one.” So how much better is three? Earlier this year, we announced the news about a three-way merger between CitizensFirst Credit Union, Best Advantage Credit Union and Lakeview Credit Union.  Because serving our members and exceeding their expectations is our top priority, we’re excited to double the number of credit union branches that we currently have and expand our presence throughout the Fox Valley and neighboring communities.

First of all, we want to highlight that this was a collaborative merger. Typically, mergers happen when credit unions are forced to merge by a regulatory body because one of the credit unions is underperforming. In the case of our collaborative merger, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Best Advantage, CitizensFirst and Lakeview have been successfully serving the people of Wisconsin for over 229 years collectively.

So what does this mean for our members?

We recognize that our members want banking to be convenient. And now with our expanded branch network, our members will have access to five more branches and an even wider array of fee-free ATMs. A new online banking system that allows members to easily view all of their accounts, loan balances and make transfers between accounts will be coming later this year as well. And while you may already know about (and have downloaded) our mobile banking app, we will continue to evaluate new and emerging technologies to make banking easy from anywhere you choose.

 Getting To Know Each Other

Like any new friendship or partnership, each individual (in our case credit union) has a unique identity. These unique identities are what have allowed our organizations to thrive and serve our members for so many years. We are excited about this new partnership and all of the things that come with it.

Keep watching for blog updates to learn more about the respective histories of each credit union and see where we are headed. Stay tuned!
