7 Cooperative PrinciplesOwnership

#1 (Ownership): Voluntary membership should be open to all.

Cooperatives are voluntary organizations, open to all people able to use its services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership, without gender, social, racial, political or religious discrimination.

What does it mean?
It means you “opt in,” and all members hold each others’ hands for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. Also, we don’t care if you’re male, female, white, black, or from Tattoine (Darth Vader could even be your father!).
